Gillian Thompson - Secondary Markets

Gillian started her career in mortgage banking shortly after earning her bachelor’s degree in business economics from UC Santa Barbara in 1995. She began working as an analyst for Deutsche Bank modeling securitization cashflow, then moved to a Lehman Brothers subsidiary where she created sub-prime pricing models and was responsible for buying, selling, and eventually hedging prime production. Now a 25-year veteran of the mortgage industry, Gillian has held several executive positions and has extensive experience leading all aspects of mortgage lending with a particular focus on directing capital markets efforts for financial institutions. Gillian has worked in multiple channels within the industry including retail, wholesale, and correspondent, and is well-versed in leading organizations through critical steps of securing capital, procuring agency/investor/warehouse relationships, setting up operational processes, and employing an appropriate interest rate risk hedging strategy. Gillian lives in Southern California and is also a real estate agent. She enjoys wine tasting, road trips and traveling with her family which include her husband of 26 years, their three children and two Australian Cattle Dogs (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac).
